What is the Accure Acne Treatment?
Accure is a new treatment, utilizing a unique laser wavelength specifically for acne. The treatment safely and effectively targets the sebaceous gland, reducing the production of sebum (oil). By reducing the amount of oil produced, the appearance of facial or body acne is significantly improved.
How long will it take to see results?
Most patients start seeing a reduction in acne lesions several weeks after their first treatment, these results continue to improve over time. Three to four treatments done 4-8 weeks apart are usually needed to give significant long term improvement. Often patients see a 40-50% reduction in breakouts 1 month after their 1st treatment. It is common for people who have a 3 to 4 treatments to be 80- 100% clear for the next 2 years.
What will the procedure feel like?
Topical anesthesia is applied to the treatment area for 60 minutes. This allows most people to feel a 3- 4 level discomfort throughout the treatment (with 0 being no pain and 10 most intense pain). Lidocaine injections and medication to help you relax can be given. Lastly, laughing gas is offered to help relax. Please discuss this with your physician to be prepared for the experience.

Most lasers that claim to treat acne are treating symptoms of the acne like redness or hyperpigmentation. This novel laser actually targets the oil gland which actually prevents acne from ever occurring.
Is there any downtime?
Most patients experience little to no downtime. Your skin might be flushed, red, or puffy after the treatment. This resolves within a couple of days. You might notice a temporary acne flare-up, this is normal. There should be no disruption to your regular schedule and activities.
