What is BBL Skin Treatment?

Most people think that wrinkles and fine lines are the biggest signs of aging in the face but discoloration, scarring, dehydration, and loss of volume can also cause you to look older than you may prefer. No matter how dedicated you are to your skincare regimen, there is no avoiding the inevitable aging of your skin.

If your skin needs an extra boost of rejuvenation that your regular creams and serums aren’t delivering, our BBL skin treatment is just the trick to restore that youthful glow that you’ve been looking for!

What is BBL Skin Treatment?

Often incorrectly referred to as BBL laser treatment, BroadBand Light (BBL) is a gentle, noninvasive treatment used to reverse visible signs of aging. Our aestheticians use the patented handheld device to send light rays into the deepest layers of skin within your target area. The heat and energy produced from these light rays then stimulate skin cell regeneration.

So what exactly does this mean for your appearance? The stimulation prompted by BBL technology rejuvenates your skin by reversing the cells back to their previous, healthier state. This improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and redness while smoothing uneven skin tone, and brightening age spots, freckles, and brown patches. It can also treat broken blood vessels!

What to Expect During & After Treatment

The process as a whole usually takes around 30-45 minutes. BBL is noninvasive and generally well-tolerated by most people (due to its advanced cooling features). It requires no downtime, and most patients experience no more than mild redness that typically resolves within a few hours. Some patients experience mild swelling that typically resolves after a few days. However, following the procedure, you will have to make sure to avoid the sun as much as possible for long-lasting results.

The number of appointments recommended to see results after BBL skin treatment depends on each patient’s specific condition and outcome goal. Most of our patients at The Dermatology Clinic begin to see results about 1 to 2 weeks after treatment but those who schedule BroadBand Light therapy 2 to 4 times per year actually see a significant delay in signs of aging on top of the immediate visible reversal!

Am I a Candidate for BBL?

BBL is safe for people with light, untanned skin. Since melanin absorbs light, those with olive and brown skin are at a greater risk of burns and scarring with BBL. A safer age-defying option for darker skin is a chemical peel.
