Safe Cosmetic Injectable & Filler Treatments

Your skin care routine may be immaculate, but, unfortunately, this cannot halt the breakdown of collagen and elastin in your skin. At The Dermatology Clinic, we want you to look and feel your best without worrying about unwanted facial wrinkles and lines. We offer injectables and dermal fillers that are FDA-approved, safe, and provide a more natural-looking alternative to cosmetic surgery. Our injectable and dermal filler options include Botox, Juvéderm, Dysport, Raidesse, Sculptra, and Restylane. Experience the possibility of more radiant, smoother, and fuller skin without the extended downtime and post-surgical care of facelifts or other extensive surgeries.

Benefits of Injectables

Because injectables and fillers are a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment, they may help patients look younger without the appearance that work has been done. As their name suggests, they “inject” natural or chemical substances into the skin to fill and smooth facial lines or wrinkles. These newly injected substances interact with the body to either freeze facial muscles, increase skin volume, or stimulate new collagen growth to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles. These treatments may even be done during your lunch break with little to no downtime! Injectables may lessen lines while maintaining your natural looks with subtle results.

Botox & Juvéderm

For most, the word “Botox” is nearly synonymous with “injectable” since it was the only botulinum toxin treatment available in the United States for many years. It targets and freezes certain facial muscles that cause frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It can also minimize muscle activity to possibly stop the formation of future facial lines. Treatments last about 10 minutes, and wrinkles may appear smoother in four to seven days. Results may last up to four months, and continuous treatment visits are advised to keep unwanted lines at bay. This classic, non-surgical treatment was the first FDA-approved injectable to help smooth frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines, but now patients also have the option of dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm.

Juvéderm is a dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid, a substance in your body that acts as a natural moisturizer. When injected, the new hyaluronic acid helps maintain the skin’s moisture while adding volume to facial lines and folds. Different variations of Juvéderm may treat and smooth cheeks, “parentheses” lines around the mouth, lip lines, or it may add plumpness to thinning lips. You may see results soon after the treatment, and they usually last one to two years.

Dysport

Acting similar to Botox, Dysport temporarily paralyzes muscles to diminish the appearance of wrinkles. It can be injected into the same treatment areas as Botox, but, unlike Botox, Dysport may spread out more once injected. Since it covers more surface than Botox, it can be applied to larger areas with fewer injections. Smoother, fuller skin is often noticeable two to five days after treatment, and the results usually last between three to six months.

Raidesse

Radiesse is a dermal filler that immediately stimulates your body to create its own collagen. The injectable contains micro-sized balls of calcium hydroxylapatite—a material occurring naturally in bones—that work with your skin tissue to create almost immediate volume. The calcium hydroxylapatite is metabolized over time, leaving only your natural collagen and natural-looking results.

Radiesse can smooth wrinkles and add lift to smile and lip lines, jowl folds, corners of the mouth, and chin wrinkles. Because it is approved by the FDA to combine with the anesthetic lidocaine, this procedure may not only be quick, but it may also be fairly comfortable. Your body may start producing collagen in about four weeks, and the results may last an average of 12 to 18 months.

Sculptra

Sculptra normally involves about three separate treatments, but the potential long-lasting effects and deep collagen stimulation can be worth the spread out regimen. This FDA-approved dermal filler creates possibly fuller and smoother facial features. Sculptra is a combination of poly-L-lactic acid and sterile water. When it is inserted, the water is absorbed, and the poly-L-lactic acid stimulates the body to produce collagen where it was lacking.

Initially, after the treatment, the injected areas may seem swollen or overly plump. This will reduce in a few days. Although the average patient receives three Sculptra treatments, the amount may be determined on a case-by-case basis. Follow up treatments are usually about four to six weeks apart.

Restylane

Restylane is a dermal filler that treats the same areas as Botox (laugh lines, crow’s feet, forehead line), but it also can add volume and possible enhancement to the cheek, lip, under eye, and chin areas. Various forms of Restylane fillers can be used on almost any part of the face. Like Juvéderm, it consists of hyaluronic acid. Your skin absorbs the new hyaluronic acid when it is injected on site, and it begins working to restore the skin’s elasticity and volume. Wrinkles and lines may start smoothing only a few minutes after treatment. The results may last a year, but multiple treatments could be necessary for best results.

Procedure & Recovery

Before your chosen treatment or treatments, you will meet with one of our experienced dermatologists or aestheticians to discuss your medical history and your desired outcome to ensure the best-suited treatment. Though most of the listed injection procedures last between 15 to 30 minutes, it is important to start preparing for your treatment about two weeks in advance. The most common way to prepare is to reduce or cease the intake of alcohol, vitamin-E, ibuprofen, and aspirin. This step is necessary to avoid any temporary swelling or bruising at the site of injection. It is also essential that you do not engage in any strenuous physical activity on the day of the appointment because a high heart rate increases the risk of bruising after the procedure. Also, it is recommended to wait for a sunburn to heal before receiving the treatment.

Our injectables and dermal fillers are administered with a small, fine needle for minimal discomfort. Most treatments can be paired with a mild anesthetic to reduce any pain. The recovery time for injectables and dermal filler treatments is minimal, and you may be able to resume daily activities right after your visit. To reduce swelling of the injection site, apply an ice pack to the treatment area shortly after treatment.
