As you age, you may notice the formation of more apparent wrinkles, bags under your eyes, and an increase in saggy skin. At The Dermatology Clinic, our dermatologists and aestheticians perform a range of skin rejuvenation treatments, including Exilis, a thermal skin tightening treatment.

What Is Exilis?

Exilis is a thermal energy treatment that involves a monopolar radiofrequency device. It helps reduce wrinkles and remodel the skin to help improve skin texture and tightness with no pain or downtime. This innovative, non-invasive treatment safely uses thermal energy to stimulate collagen production, which can lead the more supple, youthful-looking skin. Exilis can target several areas of the body; for skin rejuvenation, our staff focuses on the areas under the eyes, fine lines, and loose neck skin. A series of Exilis treatments requires five sessions, and each session lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.

How Does Thermal Energy Treatment Work?

By using heat to deliver radiofrequency and ultrasound energy waves through various layers of the skin, Exilis can safely provide skin tightening and rejuvenation. The skin is warmed to about 110 degrees Fahrenheit by the Exilis handpiece, and a grounding pad is placed on the patient’s back to ensure that the heat is delivered safely. This stimulation encourages collagen production, which helps provide a more youthful appearance with thicker, more taut skin.

When Can You Expect Results?

You may start to see the effects of Exilis within 10 days of your first treatment. Your results will continue to improve and become more noticeable in the weeks and months after treatment. Aside from residual heat, slight redness, and minor bruising, you shouldn’t experience any side effects that prevent you from going to work the next day or participating in your other daily activities.

How Long Do Results Last?

You can expect to see improvements in skin laxity and wrinkles from Exilis treatments for up to two years, but for optimal results, patients should return for maintenance appointments every three months.
