The Top Three Benefits of Using Broadband Light Therapy

By March 21, 2017May 11th, 2023Dermatology

Broadband light therapy, or BBL, is a relatively new process that builds on the principles of laser treatments and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy. With IPL, the narrow spectrum of light is only able to affect certain conditions within the skin. BBL uses a wider light spectrum, allowing it to treat a broader range of skin conditions.

We are proud to offer this cutting-edge therapy at The Dermatology Clinic. We are seeing great results from this technique, so we are sharing the top three benefits of using broadband light therapy.

1. Rejuvenates Skin

Who doesn’t want a fresher, younger look? Broadband light therapy has been used to significantly improve the appearance of our patient’s skin. The heat from BBL has been shown to create new collagen, which in turn makes a visible improvement in sagging skin. This can reverse some of the effects of aging.

2. Slows Aging Process

Not only does BBL help reverse the effects of aging, it can actually aid in prevention, as well. It is believed that the process of exposing the skin to heat stimulates it to repair itself, which may be the reason aging of treated skin seems to slow down. This effect is boosted by anti-aging supplements, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, and vitamin D3.

3. Improves Numerous Skin Conditions

Our patients have seen successful treatment of a number of skin conditions with BBL, including freckles, age spots, discoloration, acne, rosacea, and much more. It may even help to reduce the appearance of birthmarks and scars.

If you are struggling with aging skin, discoloration, or unsightly scars, schedule an appointment with one of our Board-Certified Dermatologists at The Dermatology Clinic. We will be happy to advise you on how to incorporate BBL into your custom Skin Care Plan.
