BroadBand Light Treatment For Younger Looking Skin

There was a time, not so long ago, when most cosmetic procedures involved surgery. To reduce the signs of facial aging, patients had to go under the knife. Fortunately, times have changed. Technology has given us the tools to get the same, if not better, results without cutting. These non-invasive procedures are generally quicker, cheaper, and require less recovery time than surgery. It’s no wonder they’re more popular than ever.

On a personal note, it’s a great time to be an aesthetician. In addition to my standard skin therapies, such as facials and waxes, I get to complete non-invasive cosmetic procedures. One of the newest and most effective treatments I offer my patients is the broadband light procedure (BBL). Let me take a moment to discuss this popular option.

What Is It?

Also known as a photo facial, broadband light treatment uses photothermal energy in the form of intense pulsed light to heat the upper layers of damaged skin. The heat that is absorbed subsequently stimulates the skin cells to increase collagen production – which is known to improve skin texture, clarity, and appearance. In other words, it makes your skin look younger than it actually is.

Does BBL Work?

Absolutely. In a handful of half-hour sessions, I can reduce, even eliminate signs of facial aging. Because the broadband light procedure targets the topmost layers of skin, it is incredibly effective for patients with age spots, freckles, small blood vessels, acne, uneven skin, and unwanted hair. Many of my patients with sun-damaged skin cannot believe how much younger they look after their sun spots and fine lines are treated.

How Long Does It Take?

A single broadband light treatment rarely takes more than twenty minutes to complete. It is gentle, safe, and completely non-invasive. There is absolutely no recovery time needed. In fact, most of my patients reapply their makeup immediately after treatment. Although the total number of sessions you need may vary, most folks have at least five of them over a period of several weeks. They may then schedule additional maintenance sessions every three months or so.
