Healthy Food for Healthy Skin

Eating the right foods is no replacement for a proper skin care regimen, but it can certainly help give skin a healthy, glowing look. This goes beyond just eating healthy to find foods with the vitamins and minerals that give skin a direct boost. In combination with a healthy skincare routine, we believe that incorporating the right foods can help result in vibrant skin.

Olive Oil

Olive oil reduces signs of aging, such as wrinkles. This is due to monounsaturated fatty acids, the healthy fat, which has all sorts of benefits, including strengthening skin. Olive oil is used in many skin care products, along with hair products, but it should be incorporated into meals too!

Tomatoes

Interestingly, tomatoes contain antioxidant lycopene, which improves skin’s natural SPF. Of course, it a not a substitute for sunscreen, but with so much skin damage coming from long exposure to the sun, eating more tomatoes will help in this all-important protection.

Dark Chocolate

What can’t chocolate do? Dark chocolate contains antioxidant properties that hydrate skin. This smooths the skin and works to eliminate dry patches.

Oatmeal

An underrated food that helps with diets and provides quality fiber, oatmeal also offers an alternative to many sugary breakfast cereals and pastries. Oatmeal with some fruit on top will allow you to avoid androgen in sugar, which causes pimples.

Green Tea

In a recent study conducted by the Journal of Nutrition, people who drank green tea regularly had smoother, more resilient skin. That’s not surprising, as green tea has quite a few health benefits, including antioxidants like catechin. These agents increase blood flow and oxygen to the skin, which keeps the whole system running effectively.

Kale

The hottest health food on the market, kale still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Similar to tomatoes, its nutrients absorb UV light to reduce sun-based damage to the skin.

Other foods linked to skin care health are walnuts, orange peel, organic beef, almond milk, water, soy, oysters, and more. Luckily, these foods are healthy in other ways, making it easy to consciously improve skin while addressing body health!
