Help Reduce Signs of Photo-aging With Halo Laser Treatment

Everyone loves a day at the beach, but prolonged sun exposure can wreak havoc on your skin. The UVA rays emitted by the sun can damage the collagen fibers within the skin’s deeper dermis layer, causing premature aging. This process is called “photo-aging,” and some of the symptoms include freckles, age spots, an uneven or dull skin tone, as well as wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes and mouth. It’s crucial to protect your skin with UV-blocking sun protection products whenever you are outside; however, if you have noticed signs of photo-aging on your face, chest, or hands, we offer Halo laser treatments to help treat these areas.

What Is Halo Laser Treatment?

The Halo laser is a hybrid laser that combines both ablative and non-ablative fractional laser techniques into one procedure. This means it can target two layers of the skin simultaneously. The ablative technology resurfaces the top layer of the skin, while the non-ablative laser uses tiny needles to deliver heat to the tissues underneath. This process causes the skin tissues to generate more collagen and elastin—the proteins required to keep the skin firm and elastic.

This duel technology helps reduce the number of treatments needed and minimizes recovery time. What’s more, the Halo laser is appropriate for all skin tones.

How Does Treatment Work?

The treatment process typically takes about 45 minutes, and most patients report feeling only warmth and a minor prickling sensation at the treatment area. After treatment, it is common for the skin to continue to feel warm for up to 30 minutes. We advise patients to keep the treatment area protected for up to four days and return to their regular skincare routine at that time. After about two days post-treatment, the skin will begin to peel, and the first benefits of the treatment will be visible after one week.

Your results will continue to improve in the following weeks as collagen and elastin production levels rise. Many patients see the greatest improvement in skin pigmentation around the second or third week after treatment.
