Wash Your Face Regularly and with the Right Soap

Your face is one of the most visible parts of your body, but it is also one of the most delicate. Why wouldn’t you do everything you can to take good care of it? Routine washing is an essential part of maintaining healthy skin and preventing acne. Baton Rouge residents can give a boost to their skin care routine with the products and services offered by The Dermatology Clinic and Cosmetic Center.

Thinking about skipping a daily face wash because you are too tired or pressed for time? Here are some reasons to think again:

Your face is nearly always exposed, and therefore it is prone to the buildup of dirt, oil, bacteria and other substances throughout the day. Just the common act of touching your face, combined with outside elements, means that there is an unpleasant amount of environmental residue transferred there. A thorough cleansing at night can provide facial relief and minimize the spread of bacteria that causes acne.  Cleaning your skin also allows cells to better absorb any treatment products and moisturizers, maximizing their effectiveness and helping to keep your skin hydrated.

Even if you completed your skin care process before bed, dead skin cells and oil can build up as your epidermis heals itself overnight. It is important to cleanse your complexion again in the morning to avoid enlarged or clogged pores and breakouts of acne. Baton Rouge residents can keep their skin in peak condition with specially formulated cleansers, exfoliating products, moisturizers, and retinols available at The Dermatology Clinic and Cosmetic Center.

Do you have sensitive skin?  Rosacea?  Eczema? Or just have trouble tolerating over-the-counter acne washes?  Often times using a gentle moisturizing lotion after washing your face 1 to 2 times per day can help.  Cetaphil® lotion or CeraVe® lotion are great products to start moisturizing your sensitive skin.  However, some people with sensitive skin need special types of washes.  Washes with orange oil, Evodiox, ceramides, hyaluronic acid or other specific ingredients are often recommended by dermatologist for those people with really sensitive skin.
