What to Expect During and After a MicroLaserPeel Treatment

By October 8, 2019May 11th, 2023Laser Treatment

MicroLaserPeel is an epidermal laser peel that can remove the outermost layers of the face and neck, helping to restore healthier and younger-looking skin. Here’s what you can expect from a treatment session by our physicians at The Dermatology Clinic.

Understanding MicroLaserPeel

MicroLaserPeel is a simple process by which the outer layer of the skin, a layer that normally holds the most imperfections, is removed. It can be effective for treating wrinkles, scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. The process can restore younger-looking skin by vaporizing blemishes. During the treatment, we perform a clean, layer-by-layer vaporization of the skin, causing the high water content of the epidermis to evaporate. Then, the underlying healthier skin is resurfaced and rejuvenated by the laser.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Before the procedure, usually about 30 to 60 minutes prior, we will apply a topical anesthetic to the face as well as the neck, if it will be treated. We will protect your eyes with safety shields and then position the laser handpiece above your skin, holding it in place as a computer-guided scanner moves the beam around the treatment areas. The procedure may take up to 30 minutes, but can be completed in as little as 15.

Healing After MicroLaserPeel

Our patients typically experience minimal to no pain during a MicroLaserPeel process, as the treatment is focused on the outer layers of the skin. The healing process only lasts two to seven days, but it can vary depending on the depth of the peel. Because we perform this process with a Sciton Erbium laser, there’s very little risk of scarring during the process. Our patients can also return to their work and social activities soon after.

Frequency of Treatments

Like many laser peel treatments, you can expect the best results from MicroLaserPeel after we perform the procedure two to four times, spaced out over six to eight weeks. After that, you can receive additional procedures as required, and we will discuss how many treatments we believe will be best for you during our consultation.

After completing a MicroLaserPeel, our patients often experience younger, fuller, and healthier skin. If you have any questions about the process, read more about our MicroLaserPeel services online or call The Dermatology Clinic at (225) 769-7546 to schedule an appointment today.
